Nobody embodies “Seize the Day!” like the faculty, staff, and students here at the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. They are daily, hourly, and minute-after-minute working on the cutting edge of research and innovating real-world solutions to some of today’s most challenging problems. From energy resources to new materials and from AI to climate modeling, tomorrow’s engineers and scientists need your support to transform the future.
This year for Giving Day, we are honoring the late Samuel D. Hakes, who dedicated his career to the UW College of Engineering and Physical Sciences—from pioneering undergraduate student to beloved instructor to trailblazing dean. Over the 48 years of Dr. Hakes's deep commitment, the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences forged a path into the exciting world of computing at the University of Wyoming, where our faculty and graduates have become leaders in the field and he developed multiple patented electronic instruments used in health, sports, aerospace, and more.
We invite you to honor the legacy of Samuel Hakes by making a donation to the new memorial endowment created in his name. It supports hands-on and experiential educational programs, internships, innovation and cutting-edge research, and outreach projects with industry partners to create more economic opportunities in Wyoming and beyond.
Donations of all sizes are welcome. The first $50,000 of donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Samuel D. Hakes Memorial Endowment, with an additional $50,000 challenge donation available from the dean’s office when we reach 700 donors!
You can help current and future visionaries and leaders make their lasting mark on the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences tradition of excellence in innovation! Donate today!
