Mathematics and statistics play a key role in many professions, everything from genetic engineering to data science to biomedical research and much more. These disciplines are key to academic and professional success. Not only that, but students in math and statistics develop the ability to think creatively, critically, strategically, and logically, to stay organized, and to communicate clearly.
You can help our department this Giving Day by helping us to support distinguished scholars who are spending their sabbaticals with our department. In the Math and Statistics department, we believe that bold ideas flourish when scholars are given the time and space to think deeply, to collaborate widely, and to share knowledge across disciplines and borders. Sabbaticals provide this rare opportunity and allow distinguished faculty to step away from their regular teaching and administrative responsibilities in order to pursue transformative research, forge new partnerships, and bring fresh insight to the UW community.
Thank you for considering supporting the Department of Mathematics and Statistics!
