THE WORLD NEEDS MORE COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS
The University of Wyoming Department of Energy and Petroleum Engineering’s Top 5 in 5 initiative aims to elevate our department into a top-tier national program in five years through undergraduate enrollment, expanded research, enhanced lab facilities, improved resources for faculty and students, and ambitious fundraising goals.
As part of this initiative, UW has a longstanding tradition of welcoming petroleum engineering transfer students from the northern Rocky Mountains. We have recruited students from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Polytechnic (SAIT) since approximately 1975.
That’s where the Wild Rose Excellence Fund comes in. It recruits students from the northern Rocky Mountain region by removing barriers and by reconnecting alumni to their alma mater, among other things. Even better, the impact of donors’ gifts to this fund may be doubled through matching dollars. In addition, this fund extends previous scholarship funding provided by the Eresman Family Engineering Endowment—allowing us to better achieve our Top 5 in 5 goal.
The goal of this fund is to raise $100,000 to recruit and support 10 students per year while boosting alumni engagement. We want to grow enrollment and alumni engagement, and donors are essential to remove barriers, to sustain connections, and to fuel UW’s rise to a Top 5 program
How to Support the Wild Rose Excellence Fund
Cowboys and Cowgirls from the northern Rocky Mountains are an important contribution to the Top 5 in 5 initiative—and so there are gift matching funds specifically for gifts to the Wild Rose Fund that double their impact.
Here are some examples of the difference donors can make
- $1,000 recruits one student.
- $5,000 supports up to five students as well as fostering alumni engagement.
- $10,000 or more sponsors 10 students and provides flexibility for alumni engagement and student recruitment.
