Seize the Mammoth! Help us complete the Natural Trap Cave Mammoth excavation.
Deep inside Natural Trap Cave near Lovell, Wyoming, researchers uncovered bones from an Ice Age mammoth skeleton last summer. But it was discovered days before ending the excavation, and most of the skeleton was left in the ground.
We need your help to finish the dig! We expect that the skull, tusks, and leg bones are still buried in the caveās dense muddy layers, and carefully excavating them will take time, teamwork, and specialized tools, especially because everything must be lowered down or pulled up by rope.
Your support will help fund researchers, field gear, travel, and lab work needed to bring this ancient giant fully to light. Every gift, big or small, helps our team uncover new pieces of Wyomingās Ice Age past and gives students a once-in-a-lifetime learning experience.
Join us and dig in for the mammoth! Together, we can help bring this prehistoric giantās story to life.
