Wyoming Motorsports (Student Organization)

Wyoming Motorsports, housed within the University of Wyoming’s Mechanical Engineering department, gives students the opportunity to take engineering beyond the classroom.

Each year, our team designs, builds, and races two competition vehicles: a Formula Hybrid/Electric racecar and a Baja SAE off-road vehicle. Students gain hands-on experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, teamwork, and problem-solving while working toward real competitions against universities from across the country.

Last season, we brought home our second-consecutive 1st-place finish at the Formula Hybrid/Electric competition in New Hampshire and returned to the Baja SAE competition for the first time in a decade, traveling to Ohio. This season, we are building on that momentum. In September, we traveled to Ohio for our second Baja SAE competition. We will return to New Hampshire in April to compete in Formula Hybrid/Electric and are preparing to take our Baja car to Pennsylvania in May for its next competition.
