The UW Department of Physics and Astronomy offers a welcoming personalized educational experience that prepares students for challenging careers in space sciences, nanotechnology, quantum information science and engineering, engineering, environmental sciences, optics, computer technology, energy sector, science law, and many other fields.
Our research efforts are broadly focused on condensed matter physics, materials science, quantum information science, and astronomy. Our physics faculty and students carry out interdisciplinary, collaborative, and hands-on research in multiple cutting-edge laboratories.
