The Society of Physics Students is a professional association under the American Institute of Physics that connects anyone on campus passionate about physics and astronomy. By hosting a group of like-minded peers within the Department of Physics and Astronomy, we help undergraduates to build essential leadership, communication, and networking skills through resume workshops, lab tours, and academic journal clubs.
Beyond the classroom, we bring the wonders of the universe to our neighbors. Each semester, we host public outreach events to raise awareness of STEM topics and provide opportunities to use tools the public might not have access to. Some of the events we have hosted in the past and will continue to host include are Downtown Astro, an event where we bring telescopes to downtown Laramie after football games for the public to use and look through; Astro Party, a night event that takes place on Prexy’s where students can come look through telescopes and get guided star tours, with food provided; and lastly trivia nights.
Your gift directly funds these traditions like Downtown Astro, community star parties, and hands-on science demonstrations for local schools and the community as a whole! Give today to support Physics and Astronomy in Laramie!
This Student Organization receives a de minimus level of base support from the university as noted in full in the About section of the Tier 2 Student Organization campaign tile.
