Forty-one percent of all University of Wyoming students lack the resources to purchase and access quality food. The good news is that number has decreased since our last estimates, thanks in part to the amazing donors who have supported the Food Security Program and our efforts to reduce food insecurity at UW. However, we still need your help to bring this statistic down even further.
We are asking for your support in sustaining our current food security programs at UW, including the Pokes Food Share Pantry, over 15 food share cabinets across campus, and the âEvery Poke Nourishedâ Meal Swipe Sharing Program. We are also constantly striving to grow our efforts to keep pace with current trends. Just within the last year, we accomplished the following.
- Moved to the Wyoming Union, which provided a larger more centralized location.
- Had over 5,600 visits to the Pokes Pantry.
- Distributed nearly 36,000 pounds of food and personal items at the pantry.
- Distributed over 5,000 pounds to our Food Share Cabinets and local community partner organization.
- Purchased and launched a new checkout and inventory software for better data tracking.
- Provided nearly 700 meals at the dining center to students facing food insecurity through our Meal Swipe Sharing Program.
When you give to the UW Food Security Program, your contribution will go directly toward providing greater food access to those within our university community. Whether itâs $5 or $500, your gift makes a real difference to our students.
Please consider giving to ensure every Poke is nourished!
