The Sigma Chi Fraternity, Gamma Xi Chapter, is so grateful for the support that brothers, alumni, and friends have shown throughout our 96-year history at the University of Wyoming!
Your continued support of the chapter through the Sigma Chi Excellence Scholarship helps deserving undergraduate brothers live the values of friendship, justice, and learning every day. The scholarship was established to honor Brother Neil D. MacKay and his dedication to the university and Sigma Chi.
Sigma Chi arrived at the University of Wyoming in 1930 and has never left, making it one of the longest-standing fraternities on campus. Sigma Chi boasts a diverse membership, with members involved in D1 Athletics, ASUW, Intramurals, the Interfraternity Council, UW Club Hockey, Cowboy Country Swing Club, multiple Honors Societies, and Campus Employment. Sigma Chi has majors ranging from business to engineering, environmental science to pre-law. The brothers are also involved in many research opportunities and other major-based opportunities on campus.
Sigma Chi is the only fraternity with an automatic scholarship program for brothers, in which those eligible receive up to $2,500 annually. The chapter house is one of the most affordable housing opportunities in Laramie and is always being renovated, with the latest update being a wifi expansion. Sigma Chi is also devoted to philanthropy and community service. Yearly, we host Derby Days, a weeklong philanthropic event benefiting the Huntsman Cancer Research Institute. We also support local organizations such as the Epson Center for Seniors and Laramie Interfaith as a way to give back to our community.
Sigma Chi promotes lifelong brotherhood, learning, and leadership, and we strive to support each other in becoming better men for ourselves and our communities. Thank you for joining and supporting our long tradition at UW!
*Scholarships awarded as a result of gifts made to this fund will be awarded based on nondiscriminatory criteria (such as the Cowboy Commitment structure) and in accordance with all state and federal laws.
