Wyoming Migration Initiative

Wyoming’s big game migrations make our state a wild and special place, and these animals need your help.

Your gift supports the Wyoming Migration Initiative’s outreach efforts to share science-based solutions for sustaining Wyoming’s big game migrations for future generations. This year, we are once again raising funds to support our award-winning film and public education programs. We’ll use your gift to support post-production of a stunning film on bison migration, develop new film projects, design migration exhibits, and other goals of our outreach program.

Following a record-breaking Giving Day in 2024, made possible by our amazing donors and supporters, we have raised our 2025 Giving Day goal to $45,000. We welcome your support from noon to noon on October 23-24 to seize the day and get us over the top.

MATCHING OPPORTUNITIES

UPDATE — 4PM Thursday 10/23: After receiving outstanding donor support toward our original goal of $45,000, we have raised our stretch goal for UW Giving Day to $60,000. As of this writing we are a little past halfway to reaching the 100 donors we need to unlock a $7,500 challenge gift. Between now and noon on 10/24 we welcome gifts of ALL sizes from as many people as possible to help us surpass the donor challenge!

Our lead donors have stepped up to offer exciting matches that multiply your impact.

• Every gift up to $20,000 will be DOUBLED by a generous 1:1 match from the Knobloch Family Foundation, our longtime supporter.
• Reaching 100 donors will unlock a $7,500 challenge gift from anonymous donor J-J.
• Kickoff match: To maximize your impact, give right at noon on Oct. 23 to receive an additional 1:1 match.

The Wyoming Migration Initiative is a growing team that plays a key role in advancing the science of Wyoming’s amazing big game migrations. Since WMI launched in 2012, our researchers have collaborated with many state, national, and international partners to publish groundbreaking findings and beautiful migration maps. Every year, our outreach team raises its standards for production quality, consistently producing award-winning films and reaching millions of people on social media, all to advance public understanding and appreciation of Wyoming’s big game migrations.
