Healthy forests support many of Wyomingâs most valued resources—clean water, wildlife habitat, timber, and recreation—but these forests need your help.
Your gift on Giving Day supports the Wyoming Forest Resilience Institute in our outreach and education efforts to prepare the next generation of foresters, wildland fire experts, and natural resource scientists. This year, we are raising funds to support hands-on student learning that facilitates post-fire recovery following record-breaking wildfire years in Wyoming. With $4,200 we can support summer field travel for six graduate and undergraduate students to burned forests, and an additional $3,800 supports the stipend for one summer intern to measure post-fire tree regeneration.
The Wyoming Forest Resilience Institute is dedicated to supporting the health and sustainability of Wyomingâs forest resources through undergraduate and graduate education, collaborative partnerships, and applied science. With Wyoming as the only state in the West without dedicated forestry extension at its land grant university, the Wyoming Forest Resilience Institute fills an important gap and facilitates the University of Wyomingâs land-grant mission by bringing practical science to stakeholders and providing training opportunities for the next generation of land managers.
Thank you in advance for supporting Wyomingâs forest landscapes and the students who are leading the charge to keep them healthy!
