Bringing Hands-On STEAM & CTE Education to Wyoming Communities
The Innovation Wyrkshop at the University of Wyoming developed and operated a statewide Mobile Makerspace initiative to bring hands-on STEM, STEAM, and CTE learning opportunities directly to rural and underserved K-12 communities across Wyoming.
By the Numbers
· 32,920 students engaged
· 29 communities reached
· 17 Wyoming counties served
· 19 mobile makerspaces deployed across the state
What We Provide
Mobile makerspaces give students access to equipment and experiences that may not otherwise be available in their communities, including:
· 3D printing and digital fabrication
· Laser cutting and engraving
· CNC machining
· Electronics and engineering
· Woodworking and hands-on manufacturing
· Design, problem-solving, and workforce skills
The program allows students to move beyond learning about STEM concepts and experience them through hands-on, project-based learning.
The Opportunity
Our initial grant funding has now concluded, but demand for mobile makerspace programming remains strong from schools and communities across Wyoming. We are actively exploring opportunities to sustain and expand this work so that students throughout the state can continue accessing hands-on technology, STEM education, and career-connected learning.
