Please consider investing in the future of the University of Wyoming Department of Theatre and Dance programming.
We bring the world of theatre and dance to Wyoming and Wyoming to the world. We promote artistic curiosity, exploration, innovation, experimentation, risk-taking, and cross-discipline collaboration as we inspire our students and the people of Wyoming to reflect, think, and engage in the issues of our life and times. We enrich the cultural life of Wyoming by staging a wide range of high-quality performances, workshops, conferences, and events that highlight our students, faculty, and guest artists’ talents and creative work.
Our yearly program provides opportunities for students and faculty to explore new avenues in creative research. Most recently, we have mastered the art of remote recording of performances and online streaming. For example, our musical 29 (song cycle) is our first feature film, which will be distributed in early 2021. Look for three productions in the spring of 2021, including She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms, Midsummer Night’s Dream (ballet), and As You Like It (classic theater).
Snowy Range Summer Theatre, now in its 69th year, will provide early summer programming in a streaming format. We are also planning for a summer festival for rising high school students and transfer students in 2022.
The Snowy Range Summer Dance Festival offers eleven extraordinary days of training and performance opportunities with dance professionals from across the country. Dancers ages 12 to adult participate in the festival, which provides access to the arts for gifted and talented dancers, aspiring students, and teachers wishing to further their professional development. In addition to strenuous physical training (six class and rehearsal sessions per day), dancers who attend the festival participate in choreography, share work in the mid-festival Student Showcase, and perform in the final Gala Concert. In this regard, they are experiencing training from nationally known dance professionals and are able to access this opportunity on the UW campus at an affordable cost.
We thank you for considering supporting the UW Department of Theatre and Dance, where we are bringing the world of theater and dance to Wyoming. Thank you!
