Salt Creek Energy Excellence Scholarship, Centennial Campaign

The Salt Creek Energy Excellence Scholarship provides scholarship funding and networking opportunities to students who have demonstrated academic excellence and commitment to the study and practice of energy law. Please consider supporting this vital scholarship.

2020 marks the centennial of legal education at the University of Wyoming. For the past 100 years, graduates of the University of Wyoming College of Law have demonstrated excellence in the field of energy law. These capable educators and practitioners have shaped the field and provided excellent representation to students through booms and busts and significant changes in markets and technology. In this tradition of excellence, in 2015 Wyoming alums and benefactors formed the Salt Creek Energy Excellence Scholarship to encourage top students to pursue legal careers in energy. Scholars are chosen by a committee comprised of donors and natural resource law faculty.

More than just a scholarship, Salt Creek Scholars are announced at the annual College of Law Honors Banquet, honored at the annual Landscape Discussion on Energy Law and Policy, and promoted to potential employers throughout the Salt Creek Scholars donor network. The program connects these students to a network of friends and donors and provides an easier transition to employment and mentorship opportunities within the field.

In the program's first 5 years, Salt Creek Scholars have gone on to federal clerkships and also have established successful energy practices at firms in Wyoming and nationwide. They work on diverse issues in energy including pipeline siting, regulatory practice, real property, and commercial transactions. Profiles of past scholars are available here: http://www.uwyo.edu/law/alumni...

Thank you for joining the network of University of Wyoming alums and benefactors who are supporting the next century of student excellence in Wyoming energy law!
