Challenges are a great way to show your support. Be the first!
We invite you to support the UW Honors College Summer High School Institute (HSI) by making a gift to the HSI scholarship fund.
When you give to HSI, no matter the size of the gift, it goes directly to helping the lives of HSI’s high school students with financial need and to enhancing the educational experience they receive at HSI.
HSI is a three-week summer educational program geared toward high academically achieving rising juniors from Wyoming high schools. The Wyoming Legislature created the HSI in 1985 following the national governor’s school model. Since then, nearly 3,000 Wyoming students have come to Laramie to experience their first taste of college life. Our HSI scholars attend classes designed and instructed by top University of Wyoming faculty, live in the residence halls, experience campus life, and participate in community services. The classes emphasize Honors College priorities, including experiential learning, transdisciplinary education, small class sizes, discussion, and critical thinking.
Our goal is to provide a self-discovery atmosphere for a variety of scholars who relish a challenge or may need a little push to be challenged. The array of activities that scholars participate in are designed to push the limits of the student as a whole and to help each individual learn more about themselves, clarify their goals, discover new interests, and re-ignite their passion for learning. As a result, many approach their studies with renewed vigor and purpose when they return home.
We are committed to keeping this three-week summer program cost low ($250 per student for summer 2021). We promise that no student will be turned down due to their financial need. With that being said, we rely on the financial support of our valued HSI alumni, parents, friends, faculty, and staff to offer an unparalleled HSI summer experience to our outstanding high school rising juniors from across the state.
Please support the Summer High School Institute!
