College of Law

The UW College of Law has been around for 100 years! As the college celebrates this momentous occasion during one of the most challenging years in our nation’s history, we are calling upon you and other alumni for your support.

There are three important reasons to consider a gift at this time.

• First, this year, the UW College of Law is facing the challenges of a global pandemic and a state financial crisis. Due to the pandemic, the majority of our classes are being conducted online for the fall semester. In addition, UW is facing serious budget cuts, which will impact the College of Law for many years to come. Due to these extraordinary circumstances, our ability to provide student financial aid and experiential learning opportunities is at risk.
  

• Second, as the only law school in Wyoming, the College of Law provides legal representation to disadvantaged Wyoming citizens throughout the state’s 23 counties in hundreds of cases each year. This work totals more than 25,000 hours and $3.5 million in free legal services. Also, for the fourth year in a row, UW was named among the “Best Law Schools for Practical Training” in the nation. This is due to UW’s eight legal clinics, which provide an opportunity for all law students to develop valuable hands-on skills. For students, this experience sets the stage for a lifetime commitment to providing access to justice for those who cannot afford legal services.
• Finally, 2020 is our centennial anniversary. The college has embarked on a major fundraising campaign to support student scholarships so that our college can continue to provide an outstanding legal education for the next 100 years.
