Challenges are a great way to show your support. Be the first!
The UW College of Education has received national recognition for the academic and career resources we provide to our students and for the high quality of education we offer. Study.com listed UW as #1 on their ranking of 50 Best Colleges for Education Majors! Not only that, but in the face of an unprecedented global pandemic, teachers have been unsung heroes, doing whatever it takes to support their students as they continue in their education.
We know it has been a rough year for everyone, but we hope you can make a gift during UW Giving Day to support our mission to produce the best educators for Wyoming and beyond!
The UW College of Education has been dedicated to producing effective educators for over 100 years. Our graduates take on the responsibility of educating Wyoming’s children, leading Wyoming schools and districts, providing mental health support both in and out of educational settings, and serving in higher education institutions all over the nation.
Since 2014, the college has been working with the UW Trustees Education Initiative to answer the question, “What will it take to produce the best teachers in the nation?” We have been working hard to develop and integrate an innovative approach to educator preparation that emphasizes recruitment, access, practical experience, and support for new educators in the first and toughest years.
We are committed to providing the highest level of support for our students, and your generous past support has made it possible for these students to pursue their dreams. Here are a few examples of the important work we’ve accomplished thanks to the generosity of donors like you.
- Contributions to the Dean’s Excellence Fund supported the 4th Annual English as a Second Language Conference, which had over 200 attendees last year.
- Contributions to the Literacy Research Center and Clinic supported professional development for in-service and preservice teachers, as well as outreach, tutoring, and other forms of literacy support throughout Wyoming.
- Contributions to the Honor a Teacher Scholarship Fund provided scholarships for freshmen students in the College of Education. In the last three years, this fund has provided over $30,000 in funding to students who are preparing to become teachers.
- Contributions to the Innovation Fund supported research underway through the Trustees Education Initiative, which engages in exciting approaches to supporting Wyoming students, families, and communities.
