Violence Prevention Center

The Violence Prevention Center firmly believes that sexual and interpersonal violence can be prevented and that we can create a safer and more respectful campus and broader community. We utilize research-informed and evidence-based approaches to prevention education that are rooted in public health models and best practices.

Since 2019, the University of Wyoming has adopted the Green Dot Student Bystander Violence Prevention Program, training over 7,000 students, staff, and faculty on how to identify possible harmful situations and how to intervene. Since implementation, UW has seen dramatic decreases in cases of sexual and relationship violence on campus. The Violence Prevention Center also offers more than 30 workshops and events that address issues such as boundaries, consent, restrictive masculinity, mandatory supporting, healthy relationships, financial abuse, healthy breakups, stalking awareness, hazing awareness, and many others. We also host broader engagement events such as Green Dot Day of Action, Denim Week, and Love Better Week. Last year alone, we connected with over 7,000 students.

The Violence Prevention Center has taken the lead in UW's commitment to changing the culture around campus sexual violence and interpersonal violence. Every year, requests for our workshops increase.
