Men's Rugby Club

Founded in 1972 by students, our team competes in the top Collegiate Rugby league in the country (D1A) in the Rocky Mountain West division. We find our success by building tight-knit cohesive teams that play with passion for the game and for their brotherhood. Over the past couple of years, we have travelled nationwide competing against fully funded varsity teams—your support will allow us to do this for years to come!

Our success is due to those who have come before us—all alumni, parents, friends, and donors who have given or supported over the years have allowed us to compete at the highest level in the country. We are so thankful to our strong community and supporters who give so generously to our club. The club is managed by players, coached by 100% volunteer coaches, with club expenses funded by player dues, a campus recreation fundraising match, and your incredible support.

Every penny of your Giving Day donation goes directly to the players on the team in the form of academic scholarships. With recent changes in federal government financial aid programs and their severe contraction, these scholarships are now some of the most important financial support available to the members of our team. Many members of our team would not be able to attend the University of Wyoming without this support from your kind philanthropy! The importance of this program will only grow with federal and state budget contractions. Our goal is to make this scholarship program provide THE key opportunity for current and future members of our team to be able to financially attend the University of Wyoming and attain a degree for their future professional success.

Here are some of our accomplishments fueled by your generous support in the past: National Championship runner-up in 2000, three National Final Four teams, and eight National Sweet 16 teams. In 2016, 2017, 2025, and 2026, our team competed at the College Rugby Sevens National Championships, finishing 7th in 2025 and 6th in 2026! Our players have achieved the following: five USA Eagles—players who have represented our country in international play, nineteen All-Americans, and three players invited to Olympic Training Center in San Diego!
