The Research Institute at AMK Ranch serves as the University of Wyoming's gateway to Wyoming's world-renowned national parks, Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Our team provides infrastructure, expertise, and programmatic support to University of Wyoming researchers, educators, and students, functioning as the University of Wyoming's campus within the region.
As part of our mission, we connect University of Wyoming faculty, staff, and students to local and regional land managers, including the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, United States Forest Service, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, and Tribal partners, among others. We are also actively connected with local non-governmental organizations and stakeholder groups. Through these connections, we facilitate outreach and engagement opportunities, including the Harlow Seminar Series, a weekly public seminar and barbecue. These activities focus on achieving our vision to promote the stewardship of Wyoming's iconic landscapes by inspiring new scientific discoveries, elevating place-based learning experiences, and connecting local communities.
Funds raised through our giving day campaign will be used to advance our mission to partner University of Wyoming students and faculty with the National Park Service to increase field research, academic courses, and cultural activities. In the past, we have used these funds to support place-based coursework, including through the Program in Ecology and Evolution, cultural exchange between University of Wyoming artists and the public, and communication of scientific research findings by University of Wyoming scientists to local communities and partners. Additionally, funds from donors enable our team to improve the capacity of the field station to support students and faculty, update living spaces and accommodations, and provide shared opportunities for camaraderie, networking, social interactions with station visitors and local practitioners, and increase awareness of AMK Ranch's unique facilities and setting across the University of Wyoming.
