About

Beavers are natural ecosystem engineers, creating wetlands, holding water on the landscape, and helping watersheds become more resilient to drought, wildfire, and other environmental change. But across Wyoming, we still lack the statewide information needed to know where beavers are thriving, where suitable habitat exists without them, and where conservation and restoration could make the greatest difference.

The Wyoming Beaver Project brings scientists, conservation partners, and communities together to map beaver habitat across the state. Community scientists will help ground-truth those predictions, collecting observations that improve our science while gaining firsthand knowledge of beavers, watersheds, and restoration opportunities. That experience will help community members work with land managers and make better-informed conservation decisions in their own communities.

Your Giving Day gift will help turn that statewide vision into action, supporting the science, community participation, and coordination needed to build healthier, more resilient watersheds for Wyoming's water, wildlife, and communities.
