This year, we invite you to support the Rocky Mountain Herbarium as we develop new public-facing exhibits within our renovated space to enhance the Herbarium's ability to engage with students and the public.
As the largest herbarium in the region, we serve as a hub for herbarium collections-based research, education, and outreach at the University of Wyoming. Our 1.4 million specimens form an invaluable and accessible botanical resource documenting the plant and fungal diversity of the Rockies through space and time-the nucleus around which we cultivate engaged citizens, students, and scientists.
Your Giving Day gift to the Rocky Mountain Herbarium Excellence Fund will support the following:
- design and installation of new exhibits highlighting the history and unique collections of the Rocky Mountain Herbarium and its continuing value for the people of Wyoming,
- transdisciplinary cooperation as we invite UW Museology students to help design exhibits, and
- increased engagement with students visiting the herbarium or attending class adjacent to our new exhibits in the Aven Nelson building.
Notably, our new exhibits will highlight the work of previous graduate students in the herbarium's renowned Floristic Inventory program, helping inspire prospective graduate students to pursue herbarium-based research.
Thank you for your support as we grow the herbarium's impact within our University, across Wyoming, and the region.
