Most dog owners have never heard of CD, and veterinarians can be challenged to recognize it in its early stages. Dogs with this disease have deficits in their autonomic nervous system causing pain and difficulty seeing in bright light, abnormal heart rate, vomiting, bathroom issues, aspiration of food and liquid into their lungs, and death.
Nerve cell damage resulting from CD cannot be reversed, and dogs that survive this disease usually have lasting effects that require additional care from their owners for the rest of their lives.
Finding the cause of CD is critically important, and funding for research is needed! If you or someone you know has lost a dog to CD, or if you cannot imagine losing your pet to this horrific disease, please support our research by giving to this campaign!
We are investigating CD with the goal of finding the cause in hopes of someday developing faster diagnostics tests and prevention strategies.
Keeping our research going in the coming year is going to depend largely on you. We appreciate your consideration and support this Giving Day!
