The UW Mechanical Engineering Department has numerous opportunities for undergraduate student enrichment outside of the classroom. These include senior design projects and registered student organizations that involve participation in national competitions and faculty-guided research in our exceptional laboratories.
Recent examples of these activities include a senior design project team called the "Space Wranglers" who competed in NASA’s 2022 Micro-g Neutral Buoyancy Experiment Design Teams (NExT) engineering design challenge and a student organization called "WyoMoto" that competed in the SAE Formula Hybrid Competition for the first time in 2022. Additionally, numerous undergraduate students participate in research with faculty every semester, giving the students unique training and often resulting in outcomes such as peer-reviewed journal publications on pressing engineering problems.
Your support will help us continue to provide UW Mechanical Engineering students with these unique experiences through funding of projects, travel to competitions, and research supplies for students. Thank you for helping us enhance student experiences and prepare our students for their future careers!
