The University of Wyoming Nordic Ski Team has been selected to represent the USA at 2025 World University Games!
The UW Nordic Ski Team continues its legacy of excellence with two athletes selected to represent the United States at the 2025 World University Games in Pragelato, Italy. Samantha Veauthier and Kaj Taylor will join the prestigious competition, marking the sixth time UW Nordic Ski athletes have participated in this global event.
Since its founding 26 years ago, the UW Nordic Ski Team has established an exceptional record of achievement:
- 32 Individual National Champions,
- 13 National Team Titles,
- 141 Individual All-American Awards, and
- 201 Academic All-Americans.
The World University Games, organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), stands as the second-most-prestigious international sporting event after the Olympic Games. This biennial competition features seven winter sports disciplines, including Nordic skiing.
The UW Nordic Ski Team's representation at these games builds on a strong tradition. Co-Coach Christi Boggs, who competed in the 1993 Games in Zakopane, Poland, has been named USA Cross Country Team Leader alongside co-coach Rachel Watson, who will serve as Head Coach.
The team's selection reflects not only athletic excellence but also academic achievement, with the team maintaining a remarkable 3.669 GPA. This balance of athletic and academic success exemplifies the program's holistic approach to student-athlete development.
For Wyoming, a state with a relatively small population, having two athletes qualify for Team USA represents a significant achievement. Their selection was based on both athletic performance and academic merit, showcasing the caliber of student-athletes at the University of Wyoming.
The World University Games will be held January 12-22, 2025, in Pragelato, Italy. The estimated cost per student-athlete is $3,700, plus Coach Boggs and Coach Watson also must pay to attend. Both Veauthier and Taylor have dedicated considerable time to training and preparation for this prestigious competition.
We invite you to support these top-tier athletes as they represent not just the University of Wyoming but the whole U.S. in international competition! Thank you!
