Each year, the UW Ethics Club and Selling for Impact students proudly sponsor SparkTank, a Shark Tank-style competition that champions Albany County nonprofit organizations. Since 2018, the students have raised $743,000 for local nonprofits that provide essential services, including food, shelter, safety, and clothing.
Beyond SparkTank providing direct financial support to our nonprofit partners, a study by the UW Center for Business and Economic Analysis found that SparkTank funds have generated approximately $3.2 million in total economic output and created 30 new jobs. This underscores the far-reaching tangible impact of our collective efforts—not just for the nonprofits we support but for the broader community as well.
This spring, we are excited to support a new group of nonprofits through SparkTank 2026, which will take place on Wednesday, April 29 from 5:00 to 7:30 pm at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center.
